Day 90 of 90

Wow...did I really just type that? 90 of 90...doesn't seem like it's been 90 days...it's been a trip to say the least. What are my thoughts...

First of all, I went strict for the first like 5 weeks...almost 6...Superbowl Sunday was my first cheat day...and let me tell you, once I started, it just seemed so much more easier to take a small cheat here and there. It proves, if I want to do it, and I want to focus I can.

Next, when I last saw a doctor I think it was the first week of November...I was 225 lbs. I saw the doctor this past Monday...and was 205. While I did not get to the under 200lbs like I wanted, I can safely say I have lost inches where it counts, and have definitely gained some muscle...and since this is a continuing life habit, I'm sure I will get there at some point. No rush, it's a day to day challenge of living a better life for myself.

Next, I did not run a 5k yet. I sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago. I'm not running much of anything, but I can say that going to WODs recently is getting me out of my shell and running. I hate running!!!! But I am more willing to try. Still plenty of time.

Last goal was to have more confidence with my physical self. This I can say is definitely coming true. I can see myself dressing in different shirts, that don't require me to cover up with a hoodie or hide with a cardigan. I am fitting into pants..."artist" at American Eagle is one step up from "skinny", yeah I am wearing those now. I couldn't fit into American Eagle pants 6 months ago.

Thoughts for the future? Keep blogging every once in a while...different challenges, thoughts, successes, am I continuing...it's gonna be interesting. Like I said...life changes. There is going to be a lot of ups and down, and I think that is going to keep life interesting too.

Tomorrow is the challenge. I'm nervous. I feel prepared. But I'm scared. I think I will have no problem, but I am glad it will be in the comfort of my own gym, surrounded by friends and with an awesome partner!!

I thank you for following me for the past 90 days, and taking interest in my challenge. Here's to another 90 and the rest of life. If even one person has kinda found inspiration in making different choices to make their life better, I am content. I have seen too much recently with family and friends and patients on my rotations being sick, having diabetes, having diseases states that are avoidable and mostly reversible. I don't want to get to that point, and knowing my family history and predisposition to some of these diseases states (my grandfather passed away from type 2 diabetes), I know that now is the time to figure out my life, and get myself together to set myself up for health success. Until the next one, thanks again all!

Days 88 and 89

With continuing the trend of the week, Wednesday and Thursday were boring days. Haha

Hit CF on Wednesday, did the box jumps...kinda. Did step ups for the first 4 rounds, then Karrah pushed me to do jumps for the 5th round. They were slow, and I could feel myself getting nervous with every one I did, as I got more and more tired. I think that for the competition tomorrow I will do step ups...hey...it's gettin on the box. It's half the battle.

Yesterday, I rested. Hit the mall, and did some shopping. I had to get t-shirts made for Saturday...I Should find socks at some point, but for now just focusing on the shirts. I got shirts, just need to get them printed today (Friday). Rested from CF and games cause of the competition on Saturday and I also had a dinner to go to for school. It was nice to see old friends and get out for the evening.

I haven't been 100% on the diet, but I have been making better choices when I eat. Which is what I Think life is going to be all about from here on out.

Day 87 of 90

What does a person without a job and me have in common? No Job. Sitting around all day. BORED out of my mind. The difference...they probably like it, I hate it. I sat in my bed all day doing research, and had a 2.5 hour nap. My friend Julie just laughs every time she hears I am napping. She thinks its all I do :) Practically. She thinks I can't sleep at night, today she asked how do you go to bed at night? I answered with "I close my eyes!" Haha, so terrible. Anyways, I need things to do. If anybody has suggestions, hopefully ones that will bring in some money, please let me know :)

So I went to workout today at 6pm, mostly to see friends. I coulda gone at any point today, but I like the hanging out part. I had glanced, maybe opened the webpage with the work out and never looked, at the work out for the day. And let me tell you. I wasn't expecting what I saw. I knew there was going to be an 800m run, but I didn't know what was around it. Haha total fail. It was a great workout though. 20 minute time cap to get through a set of movements, they called it a chipper, cause you just chip away at a shit ton of stuff. So here was the workout:

Warm-up: 30 bridges...I did like 5ish...felt good. I was set
I. 20 minute time cap to finish
-25 HSPU (modified to box)
-50 toes to bar (knees to elbow)
-800m run
-75 push presses (55lbs - RX)
-150 double unders (aka single unders so I could finish the workout...and I can't do 150 DU)
-finished in about 19 minutes. Good workout. :)
II. Tabata reverse extender things...lay on your belly lift your chest and legs up. Gross.

Food:
Breakfast- 2 eggs, 2 bacon, broccoli
Snack - Grandpa's left over bday cake (total fail) and sweet potato chips at some point
Dinner - burger, with guac, onion, tomato, bacon, cheese (forgot to ask for none) wrapped in lettuce. And I ate fries cause I was so flustered in my order that I forgot to change to sweet potato fries. Fail. But wicked good dinner :)
Snack - Coconut milk vanilla bean ice cream

Hopefully tomorrow I will get a new ankle brace, t-shirts made for me and my garage games partner (competition is Saturday!) and get to the gym to do the workout. There are box jumps, and box jumps are in the first workout of the competition...so I gotta get over my fears...stupid ankle injury from almost 3 weeks ago...freaked me out!!! Until then.

Day 86 of 90

Today was my first day not going to work all day. And lunch was a struggle. I realized I am going to have to go and buy some lunch meat and salad so I will be able to feed myself during the afternoon.

I spent the evening at my grandparents house for my grandpa's birthday. My grandma knows that I am doing some sort of working out/weight lifting and watching what I am eating, but I didn't even bother to say anything to her. It was my grandpa's birthday and I wanted her to make whatever for him. Plus I didn't want to make her life any more difficult. So the point of the rambling, I ate dinner. Dinner was the good part. Pork tenderloin, steamed broccoli and yams. Then birthday cake happened. And I ate it. And it was good. Then my grandma wanted to send me home with some, and sent me with enough for 4 people. Finally I got her to stop sending me home with sweets, but there is still cake here at my apartment now. I am going to wait until the first week of April to eat it though.

No work out today because I went to Glens Falls and had a doctors appointment and didn't have the appropriate time to get the gym.

Food:
Snack - Lara Bar, sweet potato chips
Lunch - spaghetti sauce with spinach and ground turkey
Dinner with my grandparents, cake and a hazelnut latte for the drive home.

We will see how the rest of the week goes. Over and Out.

Sunday, March 25, 2012

Day 85 of 90

Today was a good day. Hit the WOD, relaxed all day, and went to my first Knitting class. I was so excited to go to class with my friend Katie from the gym to learn a new hobby! It was a blast, and it was so enjoyable. I can't wait until I am able to actually make something. We only learned how to Cast-On to the first needle. And how to do a knitting stitch. (at least that is what the instructor called it.) I was super excited (like I said before) and plan to practice a bit more before I go back up for another lesson and to purchase my own needles!!

WOD:
I. 500m row, work on Russian Swing technique
II. 20 minute AMRAP
-20 Russian KB swings
-200m row
-finished 8 rounds
III. Tabata Abmat Situps: finished 71 reps

Food:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, Naked Juice
Snack - Sweet Potato and Beet Chips
Snack - Caramel machiatto
Dinner - Tomato sauce with spinach and ground turkey
Snack - mango

Day 84 of 90

I failed getting my blog up on time...so here is a quick summary.

Hung out, did some research, went to a Pose running seminar at the gym, and hung out with some good family friends.

The running seminar was a ton of fun, and I feel like I learned a ton, even though I hate running, so hopefully this will make my hatred of running not as awful cause it will be a little easier :)

Hanging out with the family friends, I didn't follow the diet entirely, but I tried to behave as much as possible. Turkey burger (had cheese already melted on) but no bun. And a escarole, tomato and mushroom salad (I think there were chick peas in it, and melted cheese on top). And a green salad, but it looked like there were soy beans on it...I still ate it. Cause I didn't want to be rude and it looked really good.

The day was good over all. Even though Cuse lost. Next year! More about today later tonight!

Friday, March 23, 2012

Day 83 of 90

Today was my last day of pharmacy school. What a wonderful day. I got out after lunch, and enjoyed my afternoon with a 2 and a 1/2 hour nap. Yup. A nap. What better feeling than laying with the windows wide open, the sun shining in and snuggling up with the kitty. :)

I feel bad because I was supposed to take a "pseudo rest day" with my friend Becca at the gym, but forgot that softball try-outs were this evening at the same time. So I had to bail. I promise to make it up to you Becca! Softball try outs were a ton of fun though. I love playing, and just getting out, running around, hitting the ball, playing catch...ahhhh such a wonderful way to spend my evening.

So no workout today, just running around at the softball field...it was fantastic to be able to do a short sprint and not be short of breath. Should make summer ball tons more fun coming up :)

Food:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, broccoli
Lunch - Salad with chicken
Snack - sweet potato chips
Dinner - shrimp, salmon burger, spinach
Snack - So Delicious Vanilla Bean ice cream. (Dairy free...so delish)

That was the day. Tomorrow starts 7 weeks of nothing really to do. So I will be around, doing some research, seeing friends, hanging out, studying for the boards/paying the $1300 to take my boards. Sigh. We'll see how it goes.

Also of note, you will probably see there is 7 days left in the challenge...there has been a lot of chat about "overtime" for the challenge. At this point, it's just about better decisions and living my life. Like today I saw the Magic Hat spring pack...and I wanted to grab it, but knew I had the week to finish, and if I did have it, I would drink the whole thing. I need to find a friend to share it with me, and to not keep it in the house. New habits. New Life Decisions. Better health for myself. Gotta keep reminding myself that.

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Day 81 of 90

We are counting down in single digits now. I was talking with my dad a few days ago, and he was asking how the diet was going and what not. And I was saying that I would definitely be continuing after the 90 days are up, because I have gained habits...different habits from before...and better habits for myself. I always catch myself thinking about what I am eating and consciously choosing to eat stuff that isn't always the best for me when I do. Anyways...sorry for the soap box. Moral...life has changed. And changed for the better.

I also found out today that I am going to be staying in Albany for another year! I got the residency I wanted at St. Peter's hospital!! YAY!! This is going to be great year with CF and new friends and just a new phase of life in general!

Let's see how the day went...

Here's to 2 more days for pharmacy school for the rest of my life!!!

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Day 80 of 90

Yup you read that right. Day 80 of 90!! Holy crap!! :) Amazing. I know I haven't been 100% perfect the past 80 days, but I have had a great time, had great results, and have noticed how "yucky" I feel when I am off the clean foods. Talk about a life change!!

Tomorrow (3/21) I will find out where my job will be for next year. AKA whether or not I got my residency of choice, 2nd choice or 3rd choice. And where I will be living next year. The choices at this point are Albany or Rochester. Needless to say...I'm nervous. I just want a job. I want to know. And I am nervous about where I will be going. I guess we will see what happens, but hands down m first choice is Albany. This past year I have made some amazing friends and had some major life changes that I really want to continue with these new friends, but I have to do what is best for my career at this point. Stay tuned. We will seeeee!!

Had rotation today. Nothing new. Went to CF, felt great! Mostly. Ankle is still a little sore and swollen, but it's improving slowly day by day. (I'm icing it as we speak...or rather as I type. haha)

Let's see here the day in summary.

Food:
Breakfast - Larabar (Apple Pie. yum)
Lunch - salad with grilled chicken
Post-WOD Protein Shake
Dinner - turkey burger, bacon, cauliflower

Wow, no snacks, didn't realize it and a clean day of eating. :) Goal is to be 95% for the next 2 weeks.

CF workout:
Warmup: 10 hollow rocks, 6 pistols on each leg, 3 pull ups, 1 handstand walk attempt
I. For time:
-15 wall climbs
-30 ring push ups
-45 toes to bar (I did knees to elbows)
-finished in 10:26 (15 minute time cap)
II. Hold plank for max time (about a minute or so...didn't have a clock haha)
III. Split stretches (side and middle) 5 minutes each

It was a good day. Now on to tomorrow!! Wish me luck! Stay tuned for the final decision tomorrow!

Days 76-79

What a fantastic weekend. Ran away to the Outer Banks with some friends, and diet went to shit. No working out either. But back on the wagon today. Day 80. More tonight :)

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Day 75 of 90

Happy Thursday! I have 6 days of pharmacy school left! Next Wednesday I will be finding out where I will be working (if I get a job) for the next year. :)

Today was a good food day (mostly). I went to rotation, and of course they come in carrying a huge platter of bagels and muffins from the morning meeting. I MISS BAGELS!!!! Then they had snacks all over my desk (it's kinda the common area for the pharmacy)...chips, dip, crackers, bad stuff! Then at lunch time they pulled out these left over subs (there was a party the night before). They all kinda go no sub? Oh right you eat a salad every day. Haha. I like my salad, so I had no idea choosing that over a Walmart sub piece. :) Crisis adverted.

Then...for work, we had a continuing education dinner to go to at 677 Prime. I knew about this dinner 2 weeks ago, as I had to RSVP for it. And I decided, I'm going to an awesome restrauant, I am eating it. And enjoying it. So I did. :)

The workout at the gym today was a 5k. I had a rough ankle day, and I was originally thinking I was going to do a 5k row...but I didn't. Which is frustrating. I wanted to run and if I don't go tomorrow to do something, I am going to go almost a week with no workout. I need to do something tomorrow, but I am nervous with my ankle and wall balls. So we shall see. I will think about it and see how I feel. Plus tomorrow is the first day for softball try outs...that I want to go to. Soooooo....yeah.

Anyways food in review:
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 bacon, broccoli
Snack: Plumcot (plum and apricot mixed piece of fruit. so good)
Lunch: Salad with chicken, sweet potato chips
Snack: Sweet potato chips, a chicken tender I made last night
Dinner: shrimp spring roll, tomato and mozz salad, filet mignon, mash potato, brussel sprouts, pineapple upside down cake. SO WORTH IT!!!

Anyways, tomorrow is Friday. Time to behave again :)

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Days 73 and 74

Today is Wednesday. I see my last post was on Monday. Which means I failed to post Tuesday. Sigh. Haha

Tuesday was a quiet day. Rotation. CF. Nothing spectacular. Wednesday...rotation. CF rest day. Should have gone in though because tomorrow's workout is a 5k run. Still not doing too much with my ankle, so we'll have to see what the modification to get my heart rate up and not miss the workout will be.

CF Tuesday we did:
Warmup- Bridges
I. Push Press 5-5-5-5-5
-75lbs, 85lbs, 95lbs, 105lbs, 115lbs
II. 10 Minute AMRAP
-10 KB swings (went light because of my ankle...so did 26lbs)
-5 burpees
-completed 9 full rounds

Food has been the same as it has the past few weeks just different dinners and snacks.
Tuesday
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 bacon
Snack: cashews
Lunch: salad with chicken
Snack: 2 pickles
Dinner: tilapia and spinach

Wednesday:
Breakfast: 3 eggs, 2 bacon, spinach
Lunch: salad with chicken
Snack: cashews
Dinner: roasted garlic, cashews, lemon chicken. See website below. :) SOOO good!
Snack: apple with almond butter

Monday, March 12, 2012

Day 72 of 90

Well I can definitely say with certainty now...the Monday after day light savings "Spring Forward" is rough. The whole morning, my body could tell that it wanted it to be earlier and wondered why I was up and functioning when it should have been sleeping or just starting the day. Haha

Went to rotation, then hit the WOD...modified in my own way. Well actually Dean helped me with that. Still wanting to take it easy on my ankle, but I want to work out...so I did. Haha

Here is the day in recap:

CF:
Warmup: Sit ups in Pike and Straddle position
I. Press 7-7-7 (this was supposed to be front squats)
-75lbs, 80lbs, 85lbs. Strict.
II. 5 rounds for time
-10 ring pushups (scaled HSPU)
-10 ring rows (scaled pull ups)
-40 ab mat sit ups (scaled Pistols/air squats for my ankle)
-finished 15:45

Food:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 3 bacon
Lunch - salad with turkey, blackberry/strawberry mix
Snack - apple with almond butter, 2 chicken meatballs
Dinner - turkey burger, brussel sprouts, sweet potato fries

Good day. Now to sleep and repeat tomorrow. :)

Sunday, March 11, 2012

Day 71 of 90

Today was a fantastic day. I hit the gym for some bench presses with Karrah, then did a little volume training on my pull ups. That will be continued...I did a 5 rep max with 115lbs on the bench press and 6 pull ups. Gotta keep pushing and training to get the pull ups down, especially with my ankle being sprained still.

Then I had lunch at Creo with my friend for her birthday ;) It was a great meal, and I enjoyed it a lot. It was a great experience even though ti was a limited menu for brunch. Oh well an excuse to go back!

I just hung out the rest of the day, and did nothing really exciting.

Food:
Breakfast - none
Lunch - Poached Salmon Salad
Snack - chicken meat ball
Dinner - turkey burger with kale

Days 69 and 70

Friday and Saturday. Again failed. Haha

Friday was a good day. Had a wonderful evening with some CF friends, a great Paleo meal and tons of fun playing Mad Gabs/just talking. Fantastic night

Saturday just took it easy and rested/iced my foot all day. Cleaned the house nothing exciting.

No working out either day. Just resting the ankle.

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Days 67 and 68

I think...hahaha I am so awful lately!! It's a mix of being tired, and not remembering.

Yesterday was good. Rest from CF. Food good.

Today I wasn't as hungry all day. Skipped lunch, minimal snacks, not as hungry at dinner...coulda probably IF'd...may consider it.

Rolled my ankle pretty bad at the gym tonight. So awful. It was amazing to see everybody immediately showing up to make sure I was okay, and the appropriate people making sure I was iced, wraped, and not broken. :) I've said it before and I will say it many more times...I love this community. And its not just a community any more...they are my friends. So tomorrow will be a rest day/ maybe I will head in to volume train my pull ups...this sounds like a great idea right now, so we will see.

Food here it is:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, salsa
Snack - Larabar, 2 chicken meatballs
Dinner - Panang curry with extra veggies and like 3 bites of rice. Don't ask.

CF was working on toes to bar...I had never gotten my feet that close to the bar before. It made sense. Tightening the core, and a pseudo kip to get going. I think I'll be able to do these. Thank you Caleb for explaining this so well.

Then we did presses 3 sets of 10. I did 55lbs, 60lbs, and 65lbs. Kept it light, worked on form.

Met con was 7 rounds of 10 sumo deadlift high pulls and 10 ring dips (aka ring push ups for this girl). I finished in 7:16. Not too shabby. I did my dead lifts with 55lbs. Good choice. :)

Then we were doing 90 seconds of box jumps. I was stepping down. After a minute in...boom. Ankle done. I don't even know how exactly it happened. But it did. I heard the pop, and now I have a baseball that is slightly blue on my left ankle. Oh well. It's an old injury. Never surprising when it happens, just hurts like a mo-fo.

Tomorrow is Friday. Hopefully the day will be short and we will see what the evening brings.

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Day 66 of 90

Hooray for an on time post! I was just thinking...hopefully I am counting correctly...who knows, I could be a day or 2 off...I guess we will find out on March 31st haha

Today finished out well. Work was nice. Had a great chat with my adviser at school. What a wonderful person he is and he totally understands me and knows how to make me happier and comfortable and validates my crazy. If only I could find a boyfriend like this. HAHA JK. Then I hit the 6pm WOD. It was a ton of fun working on getting inverted tonight. I didn't realize how sturdy my handstands were getting and I feel they can only get better from here. When I think about a handstand push up vs. a regular pull up...I feel like getting the HSPU would be easier...but everybody tells me no. So we'll see. Haha

So here's the day in review:
CF
I. Warm up 10 minutes on getting inverted...since I kinda have a handstand, it's now trying to walk...so awesome :)
II. For time:
-12 HSPU (aka ring push ups)
-2 Power cleans (85lbs...Rx = 105lbs)
-10 HSPU
-4 PC
-8 HSPU
-6 PC
-6 HSPU
-8 PC
-4 HSPU
-10 PC
-2 HSPU
-12 PC
I finished in 6:00. It was quick. I felt okay with that though because I am still trying to keep my weights low. I may have to find a happy medium with a little more weight and taking a little more time in my workouts.
III. Ab-roll outs with barbell.
-2 rounds of 5-5-5

Food:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 3 bacon (it was all that was left), spinach
Lunch - Salad with chicken
Snack - banana bread from Kim :)
Post-WOD Protein Shake
Dinner - tilapia and kale/brussel sprout mix
Snack - So Delicious ice cream (this may have given me a tummy ache...I'm not sure...)

Tomorrow is Wednesday. I think I am going to try Strongman tomorrow :) We shall see!!

Day 65 of 90

I am getting really terrible about this daily blogging stuff. I don't know if it is because I am too tired at night, or if I don't care, or if I am just choosing not to. Hard call. But here was how Monday shaped out...

Day good. Food good. CF good.

CF:
Fran - 21-15-9
-thrusters - 55lbs (65lbs =Rx)
-ring rows (aka shoulda been pull ups for Rx)
-finished it in 3:50 not a bad time. Same weight as I did in November, and I didn't record a time...stupid girl :) We will be hitting at the end of the month...so 65 should be in the books with no problem hopefully.

Food:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, spinach
Snack - none
Lunch - salad with ham, nectarine
Snack - none
Post WOD Protein Shake
Dinner - tilapia, kale, sweet potato fries
Snack - tried some of Kim's Banana bread. Yum.

That's all for today (well technically yesterday I guess hahaha)

Sunday, March 4, 2012

Day 64 of 90

Today went really well...kept my diet paleo and enjoyed my day at the gym/with my friends! So woke up, hit the WOD, Strongman, the grocery store, visited my favorite twins and their parents, watched Paranormal Activity 3 (holy crap scary) and went out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in Albany, The Fountain.

The WOD was hard...not gonna lie. I could feel my back getting tight through it, and was almost done, but decided pushing through wasn't worth the pain or injury so I left out the last 50 kettlebell swings. Then I stayed for Strongman, and got my first experience flipping tires. So much fun and sooooo hard! But I did it :)

For dinner tonight, going to The Fountain was tough to resist the pizza, but after yesterdays crap show of eating, I made the choice to eat just wings and a large house salad while my friends ate pizza and beer. It is nice though that they are supportive and don't really give me a hard time not eating. They support what I chose to eat, and can't wait until I can go crazy drinking or doing whatever more often. Haha, those were the ones that missed the game yesterday ;)

So here's the day in summary.
CF: finished in 15 minutes (out of 20 minute time limit)
-50 goblet squats (35lbs)
-10 Russian KB swings (35lbs)
-40 GS (26lbs)
-20 KB swings (26lbs)
-30 GS (26)
-30 KBS (26)
-20 GS( 26)
-40 KBS (26)
-10 GS (26)
-50 KBS (did not finish)
then we did 100 push ups for time...I finished about 7:37

Strongman: Tire flips AMRAP in 1 minute - 8 the first time ,then 9 the second time?

Food:
Breakfast: Left over ground turkey, chicken sausage, and veggie spaghetti sauce
Post WOD Protein Shake
Lunch/Snack: Apple with almond butter
Dinner: Wings and salad
Snack: So Delicious Vanilla Bean coconut milk ice cream

I think I should put some goals on here for the week...hmmm...
1) Stay strict, and really figure out the Zoning and if I am going to do it or not.
2) Get to the gym 5 days this week (1 day down)
3) Make sure I plan to go out of town in 2 weekends...yup. Road Trip with some great friends hopefully!!

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks at Strongman...

Day 63 of 90

I should write about yesterdays fun...didn't really follow diet. Glad I wasn't zoning...it was a bad food day. We went out to Syracuse to watch the last home game of the season. It was a great game. They played Louisville and won!! YAY!! While at the game, it was stadium food :( Nachos...so good! 2 beers. Then we headed home...and somehow our conversation headed towards pizza...and we had to stop to get pizza. We went to an awesome place in Troy and well the best part of about it health wise was the broccoli. Haha, but it was sooooooooo good. And of course, we had to top the night off with a small glass of wine with Law and Order: SVU. Haha

Anyways, back on the wagon today...heading to the gym for stretching, foam rolling, a WOD and Strongman...still taking it easy, but it'll be good. Started breakfast out good. I'll continue more tonight. :)

Friday, March 2, 2012

Day 62 of 90

Today was a great day. Good day at rotation. Good day napping. Good (mostly) day at CF. Great dinner with 2 good friends tonight. I resisted ordering out at work with the other pharmacists, so I could eat out with my friends tonight. Good choice, cause we ended up at Sushi X. Score. Haha

CF today was WOW 12.2 and it was all about the snatch. The Rx for females was 30 snatches with 45lbs, 30 snatches with 75lbs, 30 snatches 100lbs, then AMRAP until the end of 10 minutes. I got through the first 30 in less than 1:30. Took about 1 minute to add more weight, then hit the 75's by the time 7:00 rolled around. This left 3 minutes to get the 100s started. I wasn't expecting to get too far into the WOW, but I threw on my 100lbs...and took 3 attempts. Failed. And walked away. It was heavy and in my mind wasn't worth throwing my back into more pain. :) Next time. Still resting and working back into stuff slowly. Moral of the story? I finished 60 reps of the WOW 12.2. Awesome. :)

Tomorrow I am heading out to the last Syracuse home game. They are playing Louisville so it should be an amazing game. Then Sunday is the planned day to hopefully get some zoning under my belt. Another friend asked me about it today...so I think Sunday it will be. Hopefully. :) We will see!!

Days 60 and 61

I apologize for not posting...and this being another multi-day post. I rested from the gym again on Wednesday night. Good life choice. And hit the WOD and games tonight. Went really light, and worked hard on the aspects that don't bother my back. Felt good. Did really well with the Met-Con tonight :)

Food has been dialed in and good both days. Same typical food. Only yesterday and today I made tilapia and either kale or spinach. Yum. That will definitely be a repeat meal.

CF:
Warm-up: Front squat review, kipping practice
I. Front Squat 5-5-5 (went light to save my back)
-65,65,75
II. 4 rounds with 3 minutes of rest between
-5 squat clean thrusters (55lbs...see above disclaimer)
-10 pull-ups (aka ring rows)
-10 burpees (this was where i was nervous cause of how i tweeked my back last week after doing burpees...but it went perfectly...)
-30 double unders (aka single unders)

Finished the rounds in 1:39, 1:25, 1:41, and 1:37. I flew. It felt good. And I was ready for another round after the 4th :)

Hopefully I will have my act together and blog tomorrow night. But it may be another sushi night :) we will see. I really need to get my act together for me and cause Kim wants me to with the zoning. Maybe I will start Sunday, but that means I have to get to the grocery store with a week's worth of meals planned out. We will see. To be determined!!!

Days 58 and 59

I apologize for not posting. In the midst of hurting my back, I forgot Monday night. Yesterday I was exhausted so just hit the hay. Monday CF went Rx...tweeked my back a bit more...total fail. Food was fine. No cheats. Typical meals that I have been eating all day. Tuesday I called out of work cause I could barely walk or bend over, so sitting for a lot of hours would have been out of the question (even right now, when I hit the 30 minute mark I start getting uncomfortable...it's sucky). I made an appointment with Dr. B the chiropractor from Crossfit. She got me in yesterday for my initial consult and I really enjoyed my hour with her. WE chatted about some injuries I had, past sports I had done, weird body things I have noticed...everything. Then she did her physical assessment of me. I lean to the right. My left side is more flexible than my right side. My left arm hangs closer to my body than my right. And the real kicker? I carry 16 pounds more of my weight on my left side than my right side (at most it should be 5lbs). After some x-rays of the spine, we scheduled a follow-up visit for Thursday to review the findings.

Last night we ate out at 677 Prime. Not gonna lie. Let the diet go right out the window. We were eating for free, and I was gonna enjoy it. I did find myself eating around things I shouldn't have, but that's not to say the whole meal was paleo, let's be honest...I hate half of my cheesecake dessert and I liked it :) Other than that, meals and small snacks were all paleo the last 2 days.

Still resting from CF but will probably go to games night tomorrow (Thursday) just to run around...moving doesn't hurt to bad, it's the sitting still that hurts. And I will try to talk to the coaches about some stretching I can do and also if there are ways to modify the workouts that won't hurt me more. :) Score. Until Later tonight...happy day 60 folks.

Day 57 of 90

So last night I went bowling with some friends...the like 1030pm, black lights on, stay out til 1am type of bowling. Tons of fun. Glad I got to go out. What was even more fantastic? Sleeping til 1015am!! But I had to haul butt and get up, dressed and to the gym to be there by 11. I was there by 1040, and on a roam roller for my back. Gonna keep rolling, icing and moving to keep it going. :) I figured I would go a little light on the workout, just to spare my back a bit. The workout is below. Then I stayed for Strongman, you know...just a typical Sunday. It was kinda a clusterfuck (excuse my language) in the triple wide today. People were trying to get their WOW 12.1 done, understandable, we were trying to do a workout that involved going back and forth across, and it was just loud. No big deal. Cat did a really great job rallying the troops to pay attention and get our stuff done. After the gym, I hit the mall and grocery store. I even bought a scale to weigh food for zoning. I am still hesitant to do it, but I am wondering if it will either drive me nuts or if I will enjoy it. We will see. I think it's gonna take a ton of convincing by my partner in crime (Kim "the bad ass" Seevers) to do it. I think her saying "10 pounds in 1 month" might do the trick. We will see though.

So here's what we did today.
CF WOD:
I. Burgener Warm-up
II. Front squat 3-3-3-3
-65, 85, 105, 115 (definitely could go heavier, was saving my back)
III. 3 rounds for time (I am writing the scaled first/what i did, then the actual)
-100 single unders (50 DU)
-25 knees to chest (25 C2B)
-50 Walking lunges w/ 15lb plate (Rx = 25lb)

Strongman
I. "medley WOD" - 3 rounds for time (with the mess we had in the triple we got 2 done)
-4 balistic blocks
-keg carry (75lbs)
-Farmers Carry (70lbs KB)
Round 1 - 1:28, Round 2 - 1:05

Food:
Today was an interesting day. I don't fast, but waking up at 10:15 and heading straight to the gym/running errands without snacks (well I grabbed a handful of cashews on my way to the grocery store) = Chiplotle at 4:30pm for the first meal of the day. Took a nap at 5pm...woke up about 6pm and was starving. So I started in on my sauce for the week. This weeks spaghetti sauce had 99% ground turkey, chicken sausage, zucchini, onions, mushrooms, cauliflower and spinach. I'm trying to up my veggie intake for the week :) So I had a bowl of that with spaghetti squash for dinner. Then to round out the evening, I got So Delicious Vanilla Bean. Even better than the chocolate!! Had that and a handful of cashews and I am getting ready for bed :)

Successful weekend, getting ready for a week 3 of rotation. FOUR WEEKS LEFT!

Day 56 of 90

Saturday's are always wonderful when nothing is planned. Slept in (til 9 haha), did some research, cleaned the apartment, did some more research...just a quiet day by myself :) so fantastic. The only problem with all that? Lingering around the house doing work and such means I am going to want to munch and eat. This morning started out very good, very paleo. Snacks were good. No lunch cause I wasn't terribly hungry, and about 2pm, I wanted to eat a snack, but since I hadn't been to the grocery store, I made a PLD (Poor Life Decision...coined that one a few years back during pharmacy school...) and heated up a Lean Cuisine Spinach and Artichoke dip w/ a pita. Fail. Then for dinner, it was getting late, still didn't hit the grocery store and wanted something quick, so I ordered chinese tonight. Shrimp with mixed veggies. I ate the rice too :( then I had the egg roll they gave me, and I ordered hot and sour soup. All together just a fail. First bad eating day of the week. Back on the wagon tomorrow (hopefully nobody will want sushi, cause I have been craving it since last week...haha)

CF: rest day (lower back still a little achey)

Food:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, chopped broccoli
Snack - apple with almond butter
Lunch - 2 dill pickles, Lean Cuisine fail
Dinner - chinese fail
Snack - trail mix because I was out bowling and it was late...like 11:15pm

Oh well, tomorrow is Sunday. A new day. Gotta be better than yesterday :)

Friday, February 24, 2012

Day 55 of 90

Today was Friday, had a really great day at rotation! :) After week 2, it's fantastic.

Today my new Inov8's came in the mail. I'm excited to try them out on Sunday...hopefully my back will be back in business by then...more on that later.

I hit CF today at 3pm cause I got out of work early. I was unsuccessful searching for a new water bottle at Target, but I need to find one. My camelback is dying soon. Anyways...today was the workout for WOW #1. Workout of the Week for the open (world wide competition that CFer's can sign up to do...I did not sign up). So it was an AMRAP of jumping burpees. Felt okay, took my time, finshed 54 total, arches of my feet cramped up so lacrosse ball rolled them out during the next person completing there's, and then as I went to start WOD #2 of the day with a kettlebell, I realized my lower back hurt! What the hell!! I only did burpees! There was no reason for that pain...but as I sit here writing this, there is an ice pack on my back. I'm nervous for how it is going to feel when I wake up tomorrow...

Anyways, here's how the day panned out:
CF
I. Russian Gymnastics day 1
II. WOW # 1 - 7 Minute AMRAP Jumping Burpees (completed #54)
II. WOD - partner workout 1 minute AMRAPs for 2 rounds (because of time, it should have been 3 rounds...and I did it with 2 other people because of an odd number of people in class, so I counted how many movements/ calories I accumulated in the 10 minutes)
-Kettlebell Swings - 35lbs
-Ring rows
-Wall balls
-Lunges
-Rowing for calories

Food:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, broccoli
Lunch - salad with grilled chicken, Larabar (Chocolate chip brownie I think? Still like the Apple Pie one best!!)
Post-WOD Protein Shake
Dinner - Buffalo chicken pizza, salad
Snack - So Delicious Chocolate "ice cream"

Buffalo Chicken Pizza
-same crust that I have previously made
-Chicken
-cut chicken into pieces
-melt 1/4 cup coconut oil in microwave
-add 1/4 cup of Frank's Red Hot, garlic powder and cayenne powder if wanted and wisk
together
-Cook chicken in skillet
-Once cooked, add sauce and let simmer
-Paleo Ranch Sauce (this did NOT come out like I expected, but had good taste and added good herbs to the dish)
-2-3 tablespoons of Ghee
-lemon juice
-garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, pepper
-Melt ghee with lemon juice
-add spices and wisk together
-pour on top when putting topped pizza into oven (like after the crust has baked for 10
minutes, you've topped it and are about to bake it for another 10-15 minutes)

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Day 54 of 90

Thursday, Thursday...what a day...worked, napped, gymmed. :)

CF:
I. Russian gymnastics day 2
II. "Annie" 50-40-30-20-10
-double unders (aka single unders for me)
-abmat situps
III. Press 5-5-5-5
-55, 65, 75, 97 (NEW PR! Woo!!)
IV. "Accumulate" 3 minutes L-sit
-yeah it was hard...okay...maybe not exactly 3 minutes who know

Then I hit Games Night! We played Hoover ball (an okay game...got the wind knocked out of my by a 10 lb medicine ball coming out of the air across the net...haha) then moved to an all time games night favorite...dodge ball. I felt like I was getting better at being able to jump, dodge and catch from the first time we played a month and a half ago? Felt good :)

Food:
Breakfast - 3 eggs, 2 bacon, chopped broccoli
Snack - Lara bar - Apple Pie...best one I've had yet! Definitely will be getting more of these
Lunch - Salad with grilled chicken
Snack - cashews, fruit twist
Post-WOD Protein Shake
Dinner - spicy stuffed pepper and left over meat mix :)

Tomorrow I want to make buffalo chicken tenders, so we'll see how that goes. :) Maybe I'll go out for sushi with some friends. We shall see. But it is gonna be Friday!!!

Day 53 of 90

Today was like any other day...uneventful. After rotation, I had a few meetings, and the last one was at the gym. People that are apart of the 90 day challenge, and were kinda feeling the slump of hitting the midpoint/day 50 got together to discuss challenges, problems, questions. It was nice to hear people are all having struggles, and I'm not alone in that boat. I haven't felt deprived or anything, but I do slip up on occasion. Today I got a caramel machiatto just cause I wanted to. For no reason really. Just because. But other are experiencing the same issues. Also within the discussion, we chatted a little about Zoning. While Paleo is about the quality food you are eating, zoning is about the quantity of food you are eating. You may have noticed in the past few weeks, some of my posts have mentioned not feeling hungry at night, or that I may be over eating in some capacity, so I jumped at this chance to learn more about the zone, have my own blocks set up, and learn a little more. I had been thinking maybe zoning might be a new way to go to keep the success of the 90 day challenge going...so here it was...right in my face...

After the meeting I sat down with Jay and asked him to help me out a little. We decided that I would be at 15 blocks, and he set up my day. 4-2-3-2-4 That's the blocks that I should be eating at each meal. It breaks down the protein, carbohydrates, and fat needed for each meal. And for each meal, I have to have that number of each category in the meal. It seems like it is going to be a lot of food, which I am very nervous about. But I will have to finagle some recipes, such as making a salad to meet some blocks, rather than shoveling down 4 cups of spinach. I think that over the next 3 days I am going to look into getting some ideas, learning more about things I eat now, and how they fit into the zones (ie: 1 apple =2 blocks) and plan for starting on Sunday with the zone. I'll also have to get a scale so I can weigh my meat and other stuff appropriately. Cause if I am going to do it, I'm doing it right.

Here is a website with some more information on it: http://journal.crossfit.com/2004/05/zone-meal-plans-crossfit-journ.tpl and an article that goes along with it breaking down a lot of the foods and their ratings: http://library.crossfit.com/free/pdf/cfjissue21_May04.pdf

So Wednesday = rest day as normal, so no CF today

Food:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, collard greens
Snack - Pecan Pie luna bar
Lunch - salad with grilled chicken
Snack - trail mix
Dinner - chicken meatballs, sauce, sauteed kale
Snack - apple with almond butter :)

Day 50 of 90

Today as I was thinking about it...this whole Paleo eating just seems so normal, and every once in a while I choose to eat something that isn't exactly perfect for my body, but it isn't the all day everyday like I had previously in my life. Life is good. Things are good. And I am not missing out on things. Plus I keep finding new things to try. Like today the new green in my life was Kale. Holy awesome!! I ate a whole bunch at dinner time and already want more. I have a feeling when I finally invest int a blender that it will be a great addition to a smoothie to help me get more greens and veggies in my diet. Today at the grocery store I found myself not buying as much fruit. I am figuring if I don't buy it, I won't eat it and that will be a positive way to keep myself from plateauing. We shall see!!

So today...

CF workout x 2 (WOD and strongman)
WOD:
I. 25 KB swings (35lbs) x 4 rounds
II. "Jackie"
-1000m row (done in 4:20)
-50 thrusters @45lbs (thanks to my pal Stacia staying on me to finish these)
-30 ring rows
-finished the whole workout in 10:55
III. Work on walking handstands...lots of fun :)

Strongman:
I. 5 rounds of (I only did 2):
-5 Keg press (57lbs)
-5 Stone to shoulder (60lbs)
-5 KB swings (45lbs)
-5 deadlifts...I have no idea what the weight was...wasn't paying attention :) I just did it

Food:
Breakfast: none
Post-WOD Protein shake
Lunch: chiplotle bowl
Dinner: Pizza, and sauteed Kale
Snack: either an apple with almond butter or I am going to try the new coconut ice cream I found http://www.turtlemountain.com/products/product.php?p=so_delicious_nsa_chocolate

Sauteed Kale:
1 bunch of kale
olive oil
garlic powder
onion powder
crushed red pepper flakes
splashes of chicken broth
crushed garlic

I had a pan with left over sausage fat in it, and threw in everything. Stirred it up, and let it sautee for like 10 minutes. Came out fantastic!! I wanted more after I ate the whole bunch!! Haha

Here are a few pictures of me working out today...just for some photo updates for those of you that follow :) Thanks to my friend Stacia for taking these with her phone during class!! :)

Deadlifts

Stone to shoulder (60lb stone)

Day 49 of 90

Today I hit Woodbury outlets with my roommate. I found some good stuff. And it was nice to be able to buy smaller clothing that didn't just "fit" but still had some room left :)

Tonight I hungout with some friends from CF for a dear friends pre-birthday celebration. What a fantastic evening. I hope there are many more to come :)

So I guess we will recap food for the day since I obviously didn't hit CF...

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 bacon
Snack -cashews
Lunch - chicken salad with balsamic dressing (cheese was on it cause it was from the rest stop and it came premade...it was the lesser of all the evils of the food choices)
Dinner - chicken wings! they were paleo don't worry

I had a caramel machiatto for the ride home from the outlets...and 2 drinks tonight...vodka with tonic. It was worth a great night out with friends though. Hopefully there are many more to come!!

Day 48 of 90

Today was a good day. Friday came and went. Hit the CF workout. Partner workout. Went really well. Felt good finishing it! See the workout below. This evening my roommate and I made our first venture to Sushi X. And boy am I glad we did! It was absolutely fantastic. 30 dollars for all you can eat sushi, appetizers, salads, everything was included. And the drinks we order and thought were going to be $9 a piece were only $4.50 a piece. Who knows why. But I'll take it. :)

So let's see CF Workout:
-with a partner complete
-250m row (each)
-100 air squats (combined)
-250m row (each)
-80 push presses (combined - 45lbs)
-250m row (each)
-60 pull ups (combined - we did ring rows)
-250m row (each)
-40 burpees (combined)
-250m row (each)
-While your partner is working, the other partner was to hold a plank position.
-We finished in 29:55..hey under 30 minutes and a solid chunk of work out.

Food for the day:
Breakfast - 3 eggs, 2 bacon
Snack - Larabar (Cashew cookie), some trail mix (these were not at the same time)
Lunch - salad with grilled chicken, apple with almond butter
Post-WOD Protein Shake
Dinner - Sushi X...don't even ask what we ate. See facebook for a picture of the 5 rolls we ordered :)

Tomorrow we are hitting up Woodbury for the outlets. I wore a pair of work pants today that I bought January 13th...so about 4 weeks ago...they don't fit. I can pull them off without unbuttoning. Now while this feels good. It SUCKS!! My pants are so loose and baggy I look stupid, and they are too long so that definitely doesn't help. Haha, horrible rant. Oh well. Anyways, maybe I'll find some more professional clothing tomorrow. I am definitely looking for a new pair of Reebok Nanos for CF and a gym bag and a blender and who knows what else :)

Day 47 of 90

So today was my first full day back in Albany in the past 3 days. It was gonna be a full day with rotation, meetings, gym and just life in general. I got out of rotation a little bit later than anticipated, and then met up with some friends that were in town for our meeting. The meeting was supposed to go until 6:30 which would have been perfect for hitting my usual 7pm WOD and 8pm games. Of course the meeting didn't go as planned, and 6:40 rolled around, and there was no end in sight. I barely got out to get to ACF by 8pm for games night. We played hand ball and it was awesome. Tons of fun, good cardio running around, and my team won!!

Let's see food for the day:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 bacon
Snack - trail mix
Lunch - salad
Snack - turkey burger patty
Dinner - burger with bacon, avacado, onion, lettuce and tomato and sweet potato fries

That's all for day 47...hopefully I don't plateau and I can keep up the weight loss/inches lost...but I can tell you three days with no WOD doesn't help that plan.

Days 45 and 46

Wow, so I didn't post yesterday (Day 45) because I was at a hotel with no wi-fi. What gives? Isn't this 2012? Hahaha. Anyways, I was in Rochester because today (Day 46) I had my final residency interview at University of Rochester Medical Center. Things went pretty well. During my travels on day 45, I had 2 Starbucks coffees (Caramel machiatto and a vanilla latte). I had eaten eggs and bacon in the morning and had paleo friendly snacks for the trip. When dinner time came, I saw a Korean restaurant. And since there are none in Albany, I had to treat myself. I had a beef dish, a small bowl of rice, and all the sides that go along with it. Yum. :)

This morning before my interview I was able to get an omelet with veggies, no cheese and no breads. Score! Lunch at the hospital was a chicken salad with veggies and an asian sesame dressing. I had 2 coffees on the way home (Rochester is a long trip...3 hours...and I was exhausted), a Two Moms in the Raw bar from Starbucks for a snack, and waited for home to eat dinner. I had a turkey burger, with bacon, and a seaweed salad I grabbed from Wegmans. Overall successful trip trying to keep my diet Paleo.

I didn't get to go to CF yesterday or today, but at the hotel I ran a mile and did some weighted sit ups. Stupidly I forgot gym clothing at home, so I freaking went to Dicks made a bad decision and spent 50 bucks to get a workout outfit. Granted I got under armour stuff (it was on clearance), I didn't have to spend that much. Such a silly choice just to run a mile. HAHA

Back on track Thursday. :)

Day 44 of 90

So had my first day of my last rotation today! It went really well. I enjoyed the hospital, and I think it'll be really good. I even got to chat with one of the pharmacists I am going to be working with about the Paleo diet, and no wheat or carbs, because she is trying to treat her fibromyalgia by going gluten free. So it'll be a great 6 weeks having somebody pretty much along side to chat with.

Today ACF also released the new challenge that is happening on March 31st. Garage games. X-Y. Male and Female combo to achieve greatness!! I thought I would have a tough time finding a partner, but my good friend J Woods (who I haven't seen at CF in forever, and didn't even think to ask) stepped up and said he wanted to do it!! So we're in. I'm gonna register right after this!

Today was my first day back to strict Paleo.
Breakfast - nothing (wasn't hungry...and was a little late to rotation)
Snack - trail mix
Lunch - salad (no protein)
Post-WOD Protein Shake
Dinner - turkey burger, sweet potato fries, cauliflower

IV. AMRAP toes to bar (did knees to chest) with 1 minute rest x 3
-did 7-10-10

Day 43 of 90

Today I chaperoned the wine tour...therefore it does not even dignify me telling you what I ate. Just note there was a lot of wine and not necessarily good food. Well good in the sense of "good for my body", in the sense of taste and soooo yummy...it was fantastic. On that note, I am getting to bed. I have a new rotation tomorrow, and still have a ton of stuff to finish for my residency interview. On that note. Good night all :)

Day 42 of 90

Today I spent the whole day at the Tri-State Throwdown at the gym. 160 people from 3 different states arrived to participate in the event. I was a judge this time. And many did I get a huge exposure to something that made me itch wanting to do it. Seeing the athletes and all the people that were there to cheer them on is something I think I would love to do. I want to prove to myself that I could do the WODs that were done today. Even if I just start out in the rec division. There are no words to all the efforts that every single person, participant, judge, volunteer, the coaches, EVERYBODY put out to make today a huge success. So awesome. Next time. I'll be there participating.

I even tried to behave with my food! Even though there were donuts, cookies, and beer I resisted. I just munched on trail mix for a lot of the day, had some turkey for lunch, and chipolte for dinner, followed by an apple with almond butter, just cause I really didn't eat today.

Tomorrow I am getting up at 430am to chaperone the 5th year wine tour to senaca lake. I'll be gone all day again, and I know I will be exhausted. So I am off to bed. Day 41 of 90

Today was my last day of my rotation and well, I had a sandwich at work. And a cookie. And they were good. SOOOOO good. That's what it is. I admit it. Right off the bat today. I finished my day, headed to CF, worked out, helped move some stuff, and headed home to eat dinner and get to bed early. Tomorrow I am judging at the throwdown and I gotta be there at 730am!! Holy early!! I am in so much awe and so impressed by all the athletes that are competing. I know a lot are nervous, and worrying, and I am glad that since this is my first exposure, and I will be there judging that I will be able to cheer them on and brighten their days hopefully!!

Day 40 of 90

Surprisingly after a long day of traveling, I was up bright and early and got to work at 9am instead of 10am like I had planned. I finished my paperwork for the rotation, got an A for the 6 weeks, and headed off to CF.

CF was a long night, I've never spent 3 hours there before. We had a judges meeting for the throwdown this weekend. Then I hit the WOD. Then of course stayed for Thursday night GAMES!!
I have gotten a few questions as to why I am not competing. I think that I did not understand the whole competition in the first place. I heard there was a recreational division, but I didn't think I could participate. Plus there was some money issues. :) I just keep in mind that this is going to be my first exposure to any sort of cross fit competition, so I just wanna see what is going on, and figure I will probably participate in the next one.

CF workout today...
I. Russian gymnastics warm-up day 1
II. Front Squats 4 rounds of 5
-95lbs, 105lbs, 115lbs, 135lbs (this was still a little light, I need to up it next time)
III. 7 rounds for time
-5 power snatches - 75lbs
-15 wall balls - 14lbs
-finished in 11:05

I HIT THAT WOD RX!! (As prescribed for those that don't get the lingo) It was a good night, felt good. Then games night was floor hockey. Stick in hand totally not really my sport. I'm not entirely coordinated enough for it, and well, haha I am a soccer player. I use my feet to kick the ball!! But I enjoyed the exposure to a new game, and as always had a blast with the fellow gamers!

Food for the day:
Breakfast- didn't eat
Snack - trail mix (cashews, almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, dried cranberries, dried blueberries)
Lunch - Wenda Salad
Snack - Cran-Blue Crunch pieces, cashews on the way to the gym
Post-WOD Protein shake
Dinner - had to force myself to have some spaghetti sauce with sausage, zucchini and mushrooms that I had left over from cooking the past week...and plus I wasn't entirely hungry. Yes I am still struggling with eating at night time...I know I need to talk to the coaches, but this week wasn't the week to do it because they are so busy getting ready for the throw-down. I will ask though!!

Tomorrow is Friday! Last day of this rotation block. Which means I am 6 weeks closer to being done with pharmacy school. :)

Day 39 of 90

Is that right? 39? I had a long day filled with an interview in Jackson, TN, and then a full evening of traveling. It is midnight right now, I am writing this, and I have been home for 35 minutes and have showered and gotten into bed. Tomorrow will probably be a rough day at work and then hitting the WOD and games, but it's Thursday. It's gotta be done. :)

I had an issue with breakfast at the hotel this morning. They had nothing. I didn't have the willpower to ask for something different so I ate a type of granola bar I bought at Starbucks yesterday. It was a Raw bar. Might not have been 100% paleo, but it was better than the gluten fest that was the contenintal hotel breakfast. I would say it was 98% paleo :) Lunch at the hospital, I got nervous. They asked what we wanted and their first 2 suggestions were Chik-Fil-a and Subway. I asked if there was a salad bar, and there was, so things worked out well. After I finished at the hospital at 12:45pm, I headed straight to the road for the 2 hour drive back to Nashville to catch my plane. I was hungry by the time I got to the airport, and not wanting a full meal, I opted for an 80 calorie all fruit/juice smoothie. Of course my flight was delayed, so in being hungry around dinner time, I found Mrs. May's Pom-Blue Crunch (http://www.mrsmays.com/). Minus the rice malt and evaporated cane juice, I decided again it was a mostly paleo snack and went with it. SO stinkin good. If it turns out to be mostly okay, I will probably try to obtain more of the different flavors!! Finally got to DC after a late departure, had an hour layover and decided on a turkey burger, with bacon and a house salad. Totally hit the spot.

Anyways, I am home. Gotta hit the sack so I can have a super long day tomorrow. Almost done with my 5th rotation (2 more days!!), and Saturday I am volunteering to judge at the Tri-State Throwdown. I didn't sign up cause I was still unsure of myself, but I think after judging and hanging out for a lot of the day, it will push me to sign up for the next one. Plus I should have a job by then so I will be able to afford it. Then Sunday I am chaperoning the 5th year wine tour to Senaca lake. That will be a long day, and hopefully I will be able to not drink too much wine and eat well. Until then...happy Thursday all!!
